Thanks again to everyone who, back in early December, helped make the giant recycling sale in Merion a tremendous success. See the pictures below to see the recycling in action! We ended up selling ALL the stone, 250 TONS. Interesting to report that about half of that stone went to folks who are building a new home. We had done a demolition sale for them on their site a few months back. Also, all the exterior doors, many of the windows, the entire library, entire giant kitchen and back kitchen, that great staircase, all 5 HVAC systems, bathrooms, many interior doors, floors, miles of flagstone, shrubbery, etc. have all found new homes.
An extremely interesting fact was uncovered when the wood paneling, wood trim, mantels, and other wood items were being removed from the Merion house, which was built about 87 years ago. Written with pencils, in script, on the back of everything, it read "Tobin Job" -- my last name!
We have all the "Ludowici" roof tiles (48 squares) saved and for sale. We were also able to carefully remove that giant cupola and weathervane, 14 feet tall. It is for sale. See pictures and info on the left-hand menu.
